PANEL INFORMATION

Storm panels are the original type of hurricane shutter system, but are also the most basic. They provide great protection, but also require the most time and effort to put up and take down. American Eagle Hurricane Shutters & Manufacturing offers storm panels as the most economical alternative to its other more convenient systems.

Storm panels come in aluminum, steel and polycarbonate materials. We recommend panel mounting tracks be installed with all panels, which makes putting them up and removing them easier.

All panels we sell are resistant to Category 5 wind speeds.

CLEAR PANELS
The design concept of Clear Storm Panels is to develop a leading edge product, which is a hurricane/impact resistant material. It is made of a General Electric UV rated material, which General Electric warrants for 10 years against yellowing or cracking. The panels are designed with radius corners for maximum strength. It requires no reinforcement of any kind. The edges of the panels do not need to be fastened. Instead, every fastener used is twelve (12”) inches center to center. The American Eagle Clear Storm Panel is available in widths up to 15 inches.

ROLL DOWNS
American Eagle Hurricane Shutters & Manufacturing, Inc. offers a wide array of roll-down shutters that are designed to withstand category 5 wind loads. Our expert installers insure that the roll-downs we install will become a beautiful and useful addition to your home or business. In addition, they provide an effective security system when they’re locked. Carpets, furniture and wall hangings are protected from harmful UV light when fully or even partially closed. They can help lower heating and air conditioning bills, provide privacy and decrease outside noise 50% or more.

Roll-down shutters are available in manual or motorized versions, dependant on the customer’s preference. Motorized roll-downs are the most convenient shutter system available but caveat emptor ("Let the buyer beware") - they are in the same way, the most expensive. The manual roll-downs use a crank system, which is fine for smaller openings but difficult and sometimes impossible to use, as openings get larger because the roll-downs become too heavy.

GARAGE DOOR BRACING (Hurricane protection without replacing your existing garage door)

A Secure Door® vertical brace is pictured below on the inside of a typical 70 mph non-wind loaded steel door.

Secure Door® is designed for do-it-yourself installation by most homeowners. Set up and installation requires an electric drill, a 1/2" masonry bit, a 5/16" socket driver, a crescent or socket wrench, a hammer, scissors or utility knife, and a single blade screwdriver. The set-up and installation of the first brace typically can be completed in about 45 minutes with additional braces taking less time. A handyman or service can be hired usually at a very reasonable cost if the homeowner does not wish to install the brace(s) or our dealers (see “Dealers” page) can install the product.

Once the initial installation is complete, Secure Door® is removed until needed. When not in use, only the top bracket (attached to the wall above the garage door) and the bolts for the floor anchor remain permanently in place. The floor anchor bolts fit flush and inconspicuously out of the way on the garage floor. After the initial installation is complete, each Secure Door® brace can be put in place should a hurricane threaten (and subsequently taken down) in less than three minutes.
